Timber beams can be added just for effect. A very nice effect. Don't you think so? Douglas fir is chosen for the this project. More of a formal look in this case for the Von Trapp Family Lodge.

King Post Trusses On The Move...
What is the best way to move 37ft wide by over 10ft high king post timber trusses? Well, lets see...
Fork truck will work, notice the 4x4 and the blocking.
Tommy is hiding from the camera AGAIN!
OR if you happen to have a crane or lull, that will work also. You'll need straps as shown.
Meet Lill, she is our Lull. Mike is behind the wheel, Kellin is running the finger. Timbers are Port Orford Cedar from Disdero Lumber Co.
These 6 timber trusses are headed to Bryn Mawr, PA...did you know that Vermont Timber Works ships across the country and beyond. We are happy to build heavy timber trusses for you, where ever you may be located. Although, MEXICO may be out of the question for the time being...

Douglas Fir Timber Trusses
Vermont Timber Works is proud to share with you our latest timber frame commercial project. MANY heavy timber trusses create the new Camp Hayden Dining Hall for the Fresh Air Fund.
Impressive! Peeled poles, traditional joinery and steel joinery and LOTS of design coordination. Team members include...Vermont Timber Works (of course), The Geddis Partnership, Cuoco Engineering and Storm King Contracting.
Thank you Fresh Air Fund and The Sharpe Reservation, we are very happy with this latest timber frame creation.

Decorative Timber Beams
Decorative timbers beams are a nice way to add the timber frame feel to an existing space. Interested? Let's do it.
Posts in the corners....or not, you decide how much timber to add. I love the timber ceiling shown here:
(This design IS structural, but if it wasn't...you wouldn't be able to tell)!

Arched Timber Beams...
Arched Timber Beams...can they be natural timber? Sometimes yes...Sometimes no!
Can you tell which is natural heavy timber and which is a glulam beam?
