Timber beams can be added just for effect. A very nice effect. Don't you think so? Douglas fir is chosen for the this project. More of a formal look in this case for the Von Trapp Family Lodge.

Vermont Timber Works custom designs, engineers and hand crafts heavy timber roof trusses. We work on all kinds of projects from residential great rooms to churches to hotels, horse barns, commercial buildings and more! While all our timber trusses look decorative, most are actually structural and carry heavy roof loads.
We use traditional mortise and tenon joinery held with hardwood pegs and decorative steel plate connections with heavy bolts. Steel joinery is available (Teddy Bears are EXTRA).

Doug is working on Westbrook Middle School preliminary shop drawings, and Pete is detailing our Neely Residence.

So far, Pete seems to having a little more fun than Doug with our new program. Soon all of our timber projects will be drawn and detailed in CADWork.

King Post Design in Eastern White Pine Timbers.

Vermont Timber Works very pretty king post design in eastern white pine. The curved webs create an elegant look, and the traditional joinery is key. Look for finished photos of this pool house soon.
