Your great room design may start with a idea, like adding timber trusses. Something like this?

This timber truss design is shown below in a structural nature, see the steel tie rod? Purely decorative with out the steel (i.e. NOT holding the roof up). Hand hewn eastern white pine, with curved beams and corbels at the wall.

Great Room and a Great Weekend

How about taking the long weekend and start planning your great room addition? I think that is a GREAT idea.

I have a timber truss project planned for my personal great room addition. Doug has given me a sketch and I can't wait to get started. Since my home is conventional framed, I feel the great room can't be a full timber frame. Transitioning needs to well thought out, as I may need to add timber accents to the existing areas.
