Great Room Timber Frame Additions

Thinking about adding a GREAT ROOM to your home? How about a timber frame great room from Vermont Timber Works?

The traditional hammer beam bents shown above are buttressed (if you know what that means, then you know why it's important)!

King post timber trusses with a central stone fireplace makes quite a statement. Interested? Many designs and ideas are available, please give a call to discuss. 802-886-1917.

Reclaimed & Hand Hewn WHITE OAK Beams

Reclaimed & Hand Hewn White Oak Timbers...hard to come by and even harder to work with...
These antique timbers are ready for cutting...traditional joinery of course. Mortises are punched with a mortising machine, pockets up to 2" deep are cut with a router. Dovetails and tenons are cut with saws and chisels, ready Mike? Ready Kellin?
The 1st step in cutting a timber frame is the layout of the joints...Tom has been in charge of the Davis phase II layout. Thank you Tom, we know it's hasn't been easy!

Decorative Timber Beams...

Take a look at these hand hewn maple beams (great job MJ)! Decorative timber beams that will create a mantle on a project in Brooklyn, NY. 10ft across the front, and then 2 5ft pieces mitered at the corners as returns. I'm sure this is going to be something else. The hand hewn beams will arrive on jobsite with out a stain as they are going to be custom finished to match the kitchen cabinetry. Thanks to Carmel at Bjorn Bjornsson Design for thinking of Vermont Timber Works for this custom mantle project!
