Decorative Timber Trusses...

The decorative timber truss, shown here with a gentle arch. The homeowner wanted to add three of these to her great room, so that is just what she did. Not holding the roof up, but I'm sure they look like they do. In beautiful douglas fir timbers and shipped fully assembled by our crew. GC on this job used LIFTS to get the trusses in...we have to find out how that went, and get some finished photos. Check back soon!

Double Chorded Scissor Truss in Douglas Fir.

Double Chorded Scissor Truss in Douglas Fir Timbers spanning 60 Feet. Now that is impressive!

The Executive Center project (shown above) needed a steel super structure to support our scissor truss. Vermont Timber Works custom designs, engineers and hand crafts each timber frame project. So, if you happen to need a double chorded scissor truss that spans 60 feet, we can deliver.

Decorative Timber Beams...Always a GOOD Idea.

Adding timber beams to your home? How about reclaimed white oak for the most rustic feel. At Vermont Timber Works we are able to source reclaimed, recycled and standing dead timbers from across the country. Be ready to pay more and wait longer though for the reclaimed.


I have fallen in love with our hand hewn white oak. This sample was hewn by our very own TODD, great job.

If you were to ask me which beams add elegance with a rustic feel, I would recommend Vermont Timber Works hand hewn white oak.


Need an Arched Timber Beam? How about our Douglas Fir Glulams? Smooth finish and gentle arch, just gorgeous. Adding top chords and an arch like this would create a simple but elegant look. Of course, that would not hold the roof up!


Rough Sawn Native Hemlock beams, rustic and light in color. Wonderful choice for a rustic timber frame look. Posts in the corners and ceiling beams, maybe a few braces. It will look like a full timber frame!


Douglas Fir Timber Beams...If you would like more of a formal, finished look, here you go. Beautiful douglas fir with a clear sealer so the natural color comes through. Douglas Fir deepens in color over time, becoming even more beautiful. Penofin Marine Oil is a nice option for a hand rubbed finish.

Great Room Additions, with Heavy Timber Framing of Course

The timber great room, always a good idea! Whether you have a full timber frame with timber great room and loft, or perhaps a timber frame addition that creates your great room, Vermont Timber Works has some ideas for you. Our Hammer Beam Bent shown above is a favorite.

Who says that your timber great room needs to have height? You didn't hear that from Vermont Timber Works. This incredible living room shown above has timber ceiling beams and timber posts and braces creating an octagon. Very very nice.
